Fire-Resistant Groundcovers & Succulents

Low-growing plants that help create defensible space around your home. Click any plant to see a larger photo and growing details.

Remember: no plant is fireproof. Fire-resistant plants still need to be watered, kept healthy, and cleared of dead material to do their job. Plant them in well-spaced groups, especially within 30 feet of your home.

Many succulents are frost-tender, so check your winter lows, and ask your local nursery or extension office what grows best in your area.
